She was 90 years young.<\/p>\n<p>Born and bred in Marrickville, Peggy was a lifelong Newtown Bluebags supporter although living in Hurstville since 1949 also gave her a definate allegiance to the St George Dragons the year St George played their final home games at Hurstville Oval just up the road from\u00a0what was to become\u00a0the family home of over 60 years.<\/p>\n<p>Jenny&#8217;s father Jack Bowen \u00a0who passed in 1996 was a Newtown junior halfback before a knee injury saw him turn to the refereeing ranks in the Newtown district and later at the suggestion of his best mate Col Pearce, became a touch judge in the Sydney first grade premiership which was capped off with him being appointed as a touch judge in the 1952 Third Test played at the SCG between Australia and New Zealand.
