A comment written about George that appears under his name in the excellent Rugby League website Rugby League Project
George is my favorite football player. He played for Eastern Suburbs, South Sydney and Manly Warringah and a few other teams along the way. He was also a fabulous all-round sportsman, cricket, golf, bowls, you name it he was good at it. When he retired from footy he coached local rugby league teams, Chelsea United, and Alexander Rovers. George also trained boxers. and was often seen on the Saturday morning boxing program on channel 9 in the late 50s or early 60s. In his other life he was a Fireman for over 30 years. What a man, my hero. (01/05/2014)
