PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY 25/12/2020 AT ABOUT 6PM

MAY HE REST IN PEACE

It is with much regret that I advise you all that Adam Edwards , Bob Bob son, phoned me today with the sad news that his Dad had passed away yesterday 25/12/2020 at about 6pm

Bob Bob had been in Hospital for about the last 8 weeks and was in pain , had breathing issues and other ailments.

 

On behalf of everyone I passed on our deepest condolences to Bob Bob’s loving wife Jan ,to Adam and the other Family members.

 

Adam advised me the Funeral Service was to yet be arranged , under the current Covid-19 restrictions and he would advise me of the details , which was likely to be at Palmdale Memorial Park, Palmdale .

 

 

FUNERAL DATE AND TIMES BELOW.

 

Adam Edwards ( Bob Bob’s son) advised me this afternoon that his Dad’s funeral service details are :

 

– to be held on Monday 4 January 2021 at 1330 , Palmdale Memorial Park , Palmdale

 

– there will be restrictions on the numbers to attend in the Chapel , outside Chapel and graveside

 

– accordingly any persons intending to attend the funeral service should advise Adam via his email address ajedwards@westnet.com.au   or mobile phone 0432 093 263 at the earliest convenience .

 

I hope to attend the funeral service BUT where I live in Forestville is subject to travel restrictions at the moment; I cannot move outside the Southern Northern Beaches Region until the Premier hopefully announces on Saturday 2 January 2021 some new travel rules with effective from Sunday 3 January 2021,which will allow me to travel outside my current restricted area and go to Palmdale .

 

If I can attend I will take a mini bus and can take 11 passengers ( I have 9 vacancies left ).

 

So I suggest , if anyone would like to put down their names with me , in the hope I can go , then I suggest you contact me via my email address  ken.vessey@bigpond.com  or mobile phone 0447 9451 88  or  home number 9451 8828  as soon as possible.

 

If I can go , I will be at the Erskineville Bowling Club at 1115 Monday 4 January 2021 to pick up any passengers and naturally drop them back there  .

Bob Bob was certainly one of Chelsea United JRL Club finest/talented players , and I like many of my team mates in our teens , would watch him train and play mainly at lock forward and hope that one day we could be as good as him .

Bob Bob was graded with South Sydney in 1960 and played 2 x Reserve grade and 5 x Third grade games.

 

* major team player in many Chelsea United top teams in the 1950’s

* member of 1958 & 1959 victorious Chelsea United A Grade Premier teams

* was a brilliant lock forward

 

 

Sadly we are losing too many of Club’s Statesmen and we will never forget them .
