VALE – RON FATHERS
It is with sad regret that we advise that RON FATHERS sadly passed away on Sunday 30 December 2018 ; no other details are known at this time.
Ron played for Chelsea United JRLF Club in the 1950’s , as indicated by the images below from The Rugby League News of the 22 August 1959 he played in the B Grade team at the Sydney Cricket Ground against Bondi . One can only imagine the excitement in the team as under 21 yrs old players , to be running out on the Sydney Cricket Ground .
The Chelsea United team on that day contained many players who went on to distinguished rugby league careers , including Bobby Hough, Leo Toohey, Kevin “Bilko” Roberts and Ken Kay .
